This collection combines techniques of crochet and leatherwork to highlight the natural features of the body.
The leather bodice, composed of scrap leather pieces--sourced from a local leather manufacturer in Milan, along with donated yarn from Italian manufacturers--resembles the natural bodily anatomy, The crochet represents the softness of the skin in areas such as the belly and the breasts, and the leather emulates the organic structure of skin. The fine lines in between the different panels of independently sourced scrap leather depict the shape of the bones in the torso of the body. The bodice was finished using an upcycled polyester leotard and elastic elements from an old bra.
